Vettriano Exhibition

April 6, 2010

A large exhibition of works by Jack Vettriano is currently on display at Kirkcaldy Art Gallery and Museum in Fife.  Days of Wine and Roses is Vettriano’s first exhibition in four years and will be in Kirkcaldy until 2nd May.  If like me you are curious to see the controversial artist’s work first hand, I highly recommend a visit.  I won’t fuel the debate by expressing my own opinion of the work here – much better you go see it for yourself!

One very positive consequence of Vettriano’s decision to launch the exhibition in Kirkcaldy, was the large number of visitors to the gallery.  I’m very much in favour of any exhibits which encourage more people to get excited about visiting their local gallery.

The ultimate compliment

April 1, 2010

I’ve just been paid the most wonderful compliment by friend and fellow Scottish artist Nicki MacRae.  Nicki has featured me in her latest creative hero post on her blog:

I am genuinely touched that such a creative and talented artist would hold my work in such high regard.  Thank you so much, Nicki!
