Last Blast at the Make Room

May 18, 2010

As the Imagine Alloa project nears completion, the Make Room is hosting its final exhibitions before the project winds up.  This evening there was a viewing of ‘Touch of Class’ – an exhibition celebrating the work produced by the participants of the many classes and workshops that have taken place in the Make Room since it opened its doors last year.  The exhibition runs to the 29th of May.  Here is a little preview of what’s on offer.

Forth Valley Open Studios Update

May 5, 2010

I’m really looking forward to taking part in the first ever Forth Valley Open Studios event.  Preparations are well underway with more than 100 artists participating!  It’s going to be such a great opportunity to meet many of the talented artists throughout the local area and learn more about how and where they work.

More details of the venue I’m participating with can be found here.  Unfortunately, due to my 9 to 5 commitments I can’t open my own ‘studio’ up but thanks to Neil McFarlane’s kind offer of gallery space I can still take part.

Thought I’d share my current work in progress as my poor little blog has been getting all neglected of late.  Still have quite a bit of work to do on this but I’m enjoying the challenge of doing a portrait where some of the main features are hidden.  I’m having to work harder with what little can be seen to try and achieve a likeness.

Just as a bit of fun, I’ve also experimenting with a textile piece loosely based on the same image.  Not sure it’s working as an overall image yet, but am enjoying the learning process.
