I’ve done a little more work on this piece and am now at that make or break point where a wrong decision can lead to an overworked and tired looking painting.  Where is that fine line between a work that looks unfinished and one that retains its freshness but can still be deemed complete?  A recent post on the fabulous blog of Loriann Signori eloquently considers this point.  I recommend a look at Stop: just say what is necessary on Loriann’s blog.

Anyway, this is where I am at:

  1. Hi Julie,
Your painting is taking shape nicely! I really like the girl’s gesture and the tilt of her head and shoulders. There’s a sort of cheeky, carefree glint in her eyes that’s very engaging. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses. I’m off to have a look at the Loriann Signori blog – thanks for posting the link.

    • Thanks Kevin, Loriann makes some really insightful posts, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
