Magic painting for grown ups

I’ve just discovered a new technique called false engraving that I think I’m going to have a lot of fun with.  The final reveal stage of this technique is magic!

The first step is to paint out the image using thick gouche/tempera.  All the darkest areas of the image should be left unpainted.  As follows:

After this layer is completely dry the whole sheet is covered in indian ink and allowed to dry again.

The final stage is to hold the image under running water to wash away the excess ink and reveal the final image.
